Alfred W. “Chip” Sloan is a shareholder in Stradling’s Corporate and Securities practice group and chair of the firm’s Sports, Media & Entertainment practice.
Chip specializes in assisting entrepreneurs and corporations with various aspects of their business ventures. With expertise in entity formation, financing, and overall corporate services, he acts as a reliable advisor to his clients. Chip's primary focus is helping his clients establish successful companies, develop effective strategies, and safeguard their interests throughout the formation process and beyond. He extends his services to entertainment and production companies, as well as individuals in the entertainment, sports, and brand industries, both in the United States, Latin America and Europe.
Chip serves as counsel to private equity funds and family offices in mergers and acquisitions, primarily in sports, media and entertainment. This representation encompasses the entire deal process and also pulls from other expertise within the firm. Chip continues to work with his clients post-transaction to help them realize the full success of their portfolio company.
Chip also advises professional athletes and teams from leagues across the globe in team contract negotiations, endorsement deal procurement, arbitration, licensing and naming rights. Since 2001 he has serviced contracts, prepared arbitration cases, and negotiated performance terms and endorsement deals for some of the sports world’s biggest stars.
Chip is also the founder of TRUE Equity, a minority owned private equity group that invests in sports assets globally. TRUE Equity is positioned as the world's leading sports private equity group, with its principals having successfully executed over 50 transactions with a primary focus around assets in prominent leagues such as the NBA, NFL, MLB, as well as global motorsports properties, global football, rugby, and emerging media.
